When I heard that there was an active shooter in Boulder, Colorado, my first thoughts weren't “Oh my god, how awful.” Nor were they “I hope not too many people get hurt.” My first thoughts were “Oh no, not again,” and “I wonder if this one is race-based as well.”

The fact that THESE were the things that I thought, instead of the former two, should be pretty telling. It is revolting how close to each other the Atlanta spa shooting, and this Boulder Colorado shooting were to each other. 6 days is the total amount of time that passed…

On Friday, a message was posted to the Crabapple First Baptist Church website, responding to the Atlanta spa shootings which the church admits were done by one of its members. In this post, they write that “We watched (The shooter) grow up and accepted him into church membership when he made his own profession of faith in Jesus Christ. These unthinkable and egregious murders directly contradict his own confession of faith in Jesus and the gospel.” Continuing, they state that “…this extreme and wicked act is nothing less than rebellion against our Holy God and His Word. Dollar Diplomacy is not a term you hear much nowadays. Originating from the Taft presidency in the early 1900s, Dollar Diplomacy was a policy where the US government would give loans to foreign (usually Hispanic) countries, and use the loans to influence the nations that accepted them. Using a nation's economic capital to influence the world at large is nothing new, of course, and is in fact still a major geopolitical strategy for many nations. In fact, not only has it continued, but it has found increased usage in international relations as of late, thanks in part to the Coronavirus.

Intersectionality, as a concept, is one of those subjects that often gets lumped in with the vague idea of “weird woke things,” like “cancel culture” or “critical race theory.” Not many people know what it is, but a lot of people have very strong opinions on it, especially on the right.
